Miracles: Rip Off The Roof

Mark 2:1-11 (NIV)

¹A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home.² They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. ³ Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. ⁴ Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. ⁵ When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

⁶Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, ⁷“Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

⁸ Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? ⁹ Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? ¹⁰But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, ¹¹ “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”

Jesus was in a packed house; they ran out of room – we don’t want to run out of room for broken people.

How do we rip the roof off?

1. Move in both power and purpose. Go make disciples out of ALL men. Go outside the 4 walls. Acts 1:8 –

2. Be people that are moved with compassion. Does your heart break for the things that Jesus’ heart breaks for? Keep compassion for people who sin differently than you.

3. Remove the lid. Mark 2:4-5. Change the front door of the Church – the Church being the hands and feet. Bring Church to the people who need it most, outside the 4 walls.

At Real Hope In Christ our purpose is to love the Lord our God with all of our hearts and with all of our souls and with all of our minds.

Our focus begins with all the people of Citrus County and by the Grace of God we will:

Gather together to worship and celebrate God,

Grow in our knowledge and faith,

Give in love and,

Go out into the world to shine brightly with the light of salvation from our Savior Jesus Christ and tell the world what we know is true; God Loves You No Matter What!

We boldly ask God to help us shake the Earth and touch the Heavens!
