Sometimes life feels rigid—as if nothing could ever really change. Maybe we’re afraid of taking a step of faith. Or maybe we’re too injured from the past to move forward. Or maybe life threw us a curveball and we still don’t know how to react.

No matter where you find yourself, you can make the most of today. In this inspirational series, Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow shares stories from his life to illustrate what it means to seize each day for God’s glory. He challenges us to step out in courage because this is the day to act.

Come to Bible Study hungry, it’s Baked Ziti with Meatballs with Fresh Garden Salad with Garlic Bread night starting at 6pm.

Children are welcome and child care is provided. Everyone is welcome and please, bring a friend or two or three…

                                         PRAYER: Is Prayer Important?

The way of prayer is truly the way of life. Let us give ourselves to prayer! Jesus prayed much even though He was God’s only begotten Son from eternity past.

Through His words and His actions Jesus tells us how import prayer is.

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35.

“You do not have because you do not ask.” James 4:2.

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24

Prayer Partners are available at the front of the worship area after today’s service.

SERMON NOTES:

Pastor Jeremy Foster, October 27.
PRAY FIRST: Does GOD answer prayers?

Welcome to our new series PRAY FIRST where we will explore and discovery why communicating with God is the answer.

When people pray God does amazing things!

1 Corinthians 12:1-3 New International Version (NIV)

Concerning Spiritual Gifts

3 Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you and even show you great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’

Your lack of prayer, your unwillingness to call upon God actually "Locks Up" heaven.

Everyone is made on purpose for a purpose.

Prayer Works
Prayer Changes Your Perspective
Prayer Changes Everything

There is no power in complaining.

There is power in prayer.

Isaiah 55:8-9 New International Version (NIV)

8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

If you let God answer, He will.

If you choose the answer for God often time You will miss Him.

Prayer is not a multiple choice for God, He always fills in the blanks.

Matthew 6:9-13 New King James Version (NKJV)

9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

God usually answers our prayers in one of four ways.

1. No.

If the request is not good God’s answer is no.

What "no" are you trying to push past right now?

Mark 10: 35-39 New International Version (NIV)

35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

36 “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.

37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”

38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”

39 “We can,” they answered.

Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with,

If all the prayers you prayed were answered would anyone else be blessed?

Luke 9: 53-55 New International Version (NIV)

53 but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem.

54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them[a]?”

55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them.

2. Whoa.

If the timing of your prayer request is wrong God will say "Whoa."

You might be ready but the situation or circumstance may be wrong.

Understand that a "Whoa" is not a "No," be patient and wait for God.

3. Grow

If you are not ready God will say, "Grow."

How do you grow?

Honest people help you.

Don’t label helpers as haters.

Psalm 66:18 King James Version (KJV)

18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

If you don’t grow up Heaven will close up.

Philippians 4: 6-7 King James Version (KJV)

6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

4. Let’s Go!

When everything is right God will say, "Let’s Go!"

If you pray through God will come through! Don’t quit!
