Today’s message
Make It Matter: Today Matters
Pastor Jeremy Foster
Sermon Notes:
“What Do You Know About Tomorrow?” In the new series, Make It Matter, Pastor Jeremy Foster gives practical steps on how to make today matter. The decisions you make today will decide where you go tomorrow. The power in your life rests in today, so what are you going to do with it?
The voice of God matters in our lives.
Jeremiah 6:16 New International Version
This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Are you looking before entering the crossroad? Or are you just rolling through.
Look, ask, and then walk, not run.
Matthew 28:11 New International Version
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Before you make a big decision, stop and pray and ask God. He will give you answers.
Are you weary? Do you feel there is no way out?
Isaiah 43:18-19 New International Version
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The Rule of Five: Find five important activities that you do or that you need to do and do them every day – not all day, just every day.
The secret to your success in every area of your life is the result of what you do every day.
Be process driven, not event driven.
All the power in our lives happens today, not yesterday and not tomorrow.
You create your future today.
FIND YOUR FIVE
Proverbs 17:24 Good News Translation
An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions.
PRIORITIZE YOUR FIVE
Psalm 90:12 New International Version
Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
ENJOY YOUR FIVE
Hebrews 12:1 New International Version
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Stop and think. Learn to think.
Hebrews 12:2 New International Version
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
FIGHT FOR YOUR FIVE
Hebrews 12:11 New International Version
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
EVALUATE YOUR FIVE
Philippians 3:13 New International Version
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
Philippians 3:14 New International Version
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
What plan do you have to get yourself into God’s plan?
Ephesians 1:19 The Living Bible
I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe him. It is that same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in heaven,
Wake up every day and know that God is there for you.
Put yourself in God’s will; trust and have faith in the Lord God Almighty.
