Closing Prayer: Ken Smith
SERMON NOTES:
1 Peter 1:3 New International Version
Praise to God for a Living Hope
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
- Our Kingdom has a king and His name is Jesus.
- Jesus as King was always God’s plan.
- Jesus said the "Kingdom is at hand," because He was there.
- We are here because our king overcame death.
1 Corinthians 15:54-57 New International Version
54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[a]
55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 1:17 New International Version
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Do we know Jesus as our King?
Revelation 19:16 New International Version
16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
- Do we miss His majesty because of His humanity?
- Do we see Jesus for less than He really is?
- Do we see Jeusu as a buddy and not as a King.
- Maybe that’s why we take Him commandments as suggestions and look at obedience as an option.
- We need to see Jesus for who He truly is.
1 Timothy 1:17 New International Version
17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
- If we miss the king we will surely miss the Kingdom.
- It’s not enough for us to think of Jesus as just our Savior.
- We need to surrender to Him as King.
- Who is the King of Your life? Who is the king of your castle?
- There can only be one king of our lives.
Psalm 24:1-2
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
- When Jesus is my King then His word is my authority.
- What would it look like to let Jesus be your king?
- If Jesus is King He is in charge. His Kingdom is eternal.
If Jesus is my king then I have to believe:
1. His ways are better than my ways. He knows better than me.
2. Jesus has my best interest and welfare at heart.
3. I have to know that Jesus will always be victorious.
Whatever you think of God He is so much more.
Let Jesus be your king right now.
Never forget, God is in you and with you always. He will never forget you, He will never turn away. He is listening and always, God Loves You No Matter What!
