Kingdom Come: The Goodness of God, Pastor Jeff Wallace
“Man, there’s so much going on – my job, my family, my life! How am I supposed to find time for God?” If that’s where you are, we hear you! The world seems to close in with its worries and temptations, pushing God’s Kingdom out of first place. But God is there – waiting. Join us as Pastor Jeff Wallace explains why and how we need to seek the Goodness of God that is waiting for us.
When we know whose we are we know who we are.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Because we are a new creation we get to experience the grace and the goodness of God.
God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow forever
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
In order to experience the goodness of God there are some things we must be willing to do.
Matthew 6:26-34
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
…pray continually,
We must surrender to the Father
Romans 8:5
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
The goodness of God isn’t measured by how much we worry.
Kingdom living requires us to keep our eyes on the goal. We must seek His kingdom.
When we seek God’s Kingdom:
1. We see the reality and the Kingdom of God, not of this earth.
To see the reality we must have faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Hebrews 11:6
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
2. We must set our priority to "Seek first the kingdom of God."
Matthew 6:33
New Living Translation
33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Romans 8:32
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
We must choose and be deliberate to pursue the kingdom of God.
3. We must submit to God’s authority.
If God seems distance it is because we haven’t surrender and submitted to God.
God is not interested in building your kingdom but He is extremely committed to meet the need that help you to build his kingdom.
4. Strive for purity.
We are called to seek His righteousness.
James 4:3
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
God promises to meet the needs of those who seek His righteousness.
Put God first and He will meet all of our needs.
- Whose kingdom are you building
- What do you have to give up to seek God’s Kingdom first.
Never forget, God is in you and with you always. He will never forget you, He will never turn away. He is listening and always, God Loves You No Matter What!
