SERMON NOTES June 28, 2020
“The Blessing,"
Pastor Justin Miller.

Deuteronomy 7:9
9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Song verse:
May his favor be upon you And a thousand generations Your family and your children
And their children, and their children

  • Who in your life has remained steadfast in their faith and helped you get to where you are in your faith today?
  • Who in your life will benefit from your faithfulness?
  • In what ways does this verse help you recognize and acknowledge God’s Provision or Blessing?
Matthew 6:33
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Psalm 37:4
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

What do we need to do to “Receive” God’s Blessing?

John 14:21-24
21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”

23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Song verse:
Amen, Amen, Amen Amen, Amen, Amen

“Amen” means that we agree with God; we’re saying “let it be done!” Pastor Justin said, “The Blessing begins with my obedience.” Explain what that looks like and why is it important for us to worship God and be thankful for the covenant he has made with us?

Romans 8:31-39
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Song verse:
He is for you, He is for you He is for you, He is for you He is for you, He is for you He is for you, He is for you

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” God is for us, the blessing/promise is there, but how can we "Claim" it?

Numbers 6:22-24
22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: 24 “‘“The Lord bless you
and keep you;

Song Verse:
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord turns his face toward you and gives you peace.

Our legacy matters for each one of us; for Moms, Dads, married couples, & single people. Our choices can have lasting consequences if we "Believe" God’s Blessings. Have you considered what your legacy will look like?

What’s the Next Step in your faith journey?

1. Worship God and “Receive” The Blessing
Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior (Romans 10:8-10; John 1:1-5, 12, 14)
There are many small “l” lords, but only one Lord

2. Worship God and “Claim” The Blessing
Live a new life / Obey God / Create a legacy (Romans 6:3-14; Galatians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 5:17)

3. Worship God and “Believe” The Blessing
Believe God’s Blessings (John 3:16; 1 John 5:10-12; John 8:32, 36; Genesis 17:7)
