PRAYER: Is Prayer Important?

The way of prayer is truly the way of life. Let us give ourselves to prayer! Jesus prayed much even though He was God’s only begotten Son from eternity past.

Through His words and His actions Jesus tells us how import prayer is.

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35.

“You do not have because you do not ask.” James 4:2.

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24

Prayer Partners are available at the front of the worship area after today’s service.

SERMON NOTES:

Pastor Rick Bezet, November 10, 2019.
The Best Life: Be In On the Legacy

The start to building a legacy: A heart for God’s Word, His people, and giving Him your best. Learn more about how YOU can be in on the legacy of your community, family and the generations to come.

1. Have a heart for the Word in this house.

When you are afraid and you don’t know what to do keep your eyes on the Father and carry the word.

You can’t get enough word here, today or any Sunday. To get enough of the Word You will have to self feed.

When you give your heart to the Lord you get a brand new spirit but you have the same exact mind the next day.

The only way for your mind to be made whole, to be made new is by the washing of the water of the Word.

The reason why the Word seems boring at first and hard to understand is because all of hell does not want you to read the Word and is woeking hard to keep you from it. The devil certainly does not want you to know the truth and discover your place with God.

You will not only come to know the truth from the Word but you will also receive Grace.

Truth without Grace is a problem.

Grace without truth is also a problem.

John 8:3-11 New International Version (NIV)

3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group

4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.

5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”

6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.

7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up, of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 New International Version (NIV)

3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.

4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

When you stay in the Word of God you strongholds, your ways of thinking and understanding are changed.

The Divine power of God, through His Word overcomes our strongholds, our prison of lies.

Don’t live in a stronghold of fear, of lies.

The world shouts because it wants you to deny God and ignore His Word.

Satan has one goal; to make sure you do not know God. But if you do know the Lord then he works to separate you from the Word so that you will not know God.

The Word is the only book that you do not read, it reads you!

The Bible has the power to show you everything about yourself and give you answers. It reveals your weaknesses and shows you the way past your strongholds, the prisons of lies that keep you trapped.

Be careful not to following your feelings because feelings are fear driven.

2. Have a heart with a giving hand in this house.

The Bible says a giving heart is an amazing thing.

Mark 10:17-27 New International Version (NIV)

17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good – except God alone.

19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’

20 "Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy."

21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.

The Bible says shame off you, not on you.

It is amazing that we all say that we want to grow in our relationship with the Lord yet instead of listening to and following the Word we pick and choose what we want to do.

Malachi 3:8-11 New International Version (NIV)

8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’

“In tithes and offerings.

9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me.

10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.

We love to be around people who give.

Most people die in their faith when it comes to giving.

Deuteronomy 14:23 Living Bible (TLB)

23 Bring this tithe to eat before the Lord your God at the place he shall choose as his sanctuary; this applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn of your flocks and herds.

The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives.

3. Have a heart for each soul in this house.

Proverbs 11:30 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

30 The fruit of a righteous person is a tree of life, and a winner of souls is wise.

Bring the Word is hard work but well worth it.

Every soul needs to know the Word and the Gospel.

There are 4.9 billion people in the world who do not know the Word. They do not know the Gospel.

If the hope of the world is the church then we have to get people saved.

What are we waiting for?

John 4:35-38 New International Version (NIV)

35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.

37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true.

38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."

To build your legacy it is time for you to:

1. Have a heart for the Word in this house.

2. Have a heart with a giving hand in this house.

3. Have a heart for each soul in this house.
