PRAYER: Is Prayer Important?

The way of prayer is truly the way of life. Let us give ourselves to prayer! Jesus prayed much even though He was God’s only begotten Son from eternity past.

Through His words and His actions Jesus tells us how import prayer is.

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35.

“You do not have because you do not ask.” James 4:2.

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24

Prayer Partners are available at the front of the worship area after today’s service.

SERMON NOTES: 11-24-2019- -Pastor Daniel Groves.

The Best Life: A Heart of Stewardship.

When you release what you are holding onto, God can bring blessings that ultimately bless others. But when we refuse to live openhanded, we can only hold so much. Check out how YOU can release what you’re holding and love a life with a heart of stewardship.

Proverbs 16:9 New International Version (NIV)

9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

If you want God to laugh tell Him your plans.

Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Stewardship means using our God given abilities to mange God given resources to accomplish God ordained results.

How do I become a good steward?

1. Know God

2. Find freedom

3. Discover your purpose

4. Using Your God given abilities make a difference

How do I become a good steward?

1. Stewardship begins in the heart.

Proverbs 4:23 New International Version (NIV)

23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

2. Stewardship is for every season of life.

Luke 16:10-12 New Living Translation (NLT)

10 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.

11 And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?

12 And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?

James 4:14 New International Version (NIV)

14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Being a good steward with your time.

  • How are you spending your time?
  • Are you a good manager of your time?

Time is:

Things

I

Must

Experience

3. Stewardship requires willingness.

We don’t like told what to do.

1 Peter 5:6 New International Version (NIV)

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

I was afraid with what You gave me so I buried it.

Don’t bury your potential, release it and live by faith.

John 14:26 New International Version (NIV)

26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The Holy Spirit is always speaking.

Revelation from God will fuel dedication to God.

2 Corinthians 9:8 New International Version (NIV)

8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

God’s not trying to get something from you, he’s trying to give something from you.

Luke 6:38 Good News Translation (GNT)

38 Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands—all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you.”

Acts 20:35 New International Version (NIV)

35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

Give with joy.
