Wednesday, 6pm – Not Your Mama’s Bible Study.
Max Lucado, Traveling Light.
Weary travelers. You’ve seen them – everything they own crammed into their luggage. Staggering through terminals and hotel lobbies with overstuffed suitcases, trunks, duffels, and backpacks. Backs ache. Feet burn. Eyelids droop. We’ve all seen people like that. At times, we are people like that – if not with our physical luggage, then at least with our spiritual load.
We all lug loads we were never intended to carry. Fear. Worry. Discontent. No wonder we get so weary. We’re worn out from carrying that excess baggage. Wouldn’t it be nice to lose some of those bags? That’s the invitation of Max Lucado. With the Twenty-third Psalm as our guide, let’s release some of the burdens we were never intended to bear.
Come to Bible Study hungry – It’s an old Southern Favorite, Breaded Fried Pork Chops, Baked Mac & Cheese, Braised Cabbage, Lemonade and Iced Tea and Ice Cream for dessert starting at 6pm.Everyone is welcome and please, bring a friend or two or three…

PRAYER: Is Prayer Important?
The way of prayer is truly the way of life. Let us give ourselves to prayer! Jesus prayed much even though He was God’s only begotten Son from eternity past.Through His words and His actions Jesus tells us how import prayer is.
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35.
"You do not have because you do not ask.” James 4:2.
"Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24
Prayer Partners are available at the front of the worship area after today’s service.
SERMON NOTES
Undeserved Favor – Pastor Jeremy Foster
Why does God give us favor even when we don’t deserve it? Find out what it looks like to receive favor even when it isn’t fair.
Walking In Favor
Psalm 84:11 New International Version (NIV)
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
Psalm 90:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us-
yes, establish the work of our hands
Psalm 30:5 New International Version (NIV)
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,&
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Proverbs 18:22 New International Version (NIV)
2 He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the Lord.
1. We don’t deserve favor.
John 1:16 New Life Version (NLV)
16 From Him Who has so much we have all
received loving-favor, one loving-favor after another.
2. God enjoys giving us favor.
Jeremiah 32:41 God’s Word Translation (NLT)
41 I will enjoy blessing them. With all my heart
and soul I will faithfully plant them in this land.
Isaiah 56:3 Living Bible (TLB)
3 And my blessings are for Gentiles, too,
when they accept the Lord; don’t let them
think that I will make them second-class citizens.
And this is for the eunuchs too.
They can be as much mine as anyone.
3. God’s favor is often dependent on my obedience.
Deuteronomy 28:2-8 New Living Translation (NLT)
2 You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God:
3 Your towns and your fields will be blessed.
4 Your children and your crops will be blessed.
The offspring of your herds and flocks will be blessed.
5 Your fruit baskets and breadboards will be blessed.
6 Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.
The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you.
They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven!
8 The Lord will guarantee a blessing on everything you
do and will fill your storehouses with grain.
The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.
If you want God’s favor in your life here are four things you must do.
1. I’ll have favor if I meet with Jesus every day. (Before you go social go scriptural)
Proverbs 8:34 New International Version (NIV)
34 Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.
2. I’ll have favor if I study God’s Word and do it.
Psalm 1:1-3 English Standard Version (ESV)
1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel
of the wicked,nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
James 1:25 New International Version (NIV)
25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect
law that gives freedom, and continues in it-not
forgetting what they have heard, but doing it-
they will be blessed in what they do.
3. I’ll have favor if I tithe my income. Tithing is life not law. Tithing is the test of where your heart is.
Malachi 3:10 New International Version (NIV)
10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse,
that there may be food in my house.
Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty,
and see if I will not throw open the floodgates
of heaven and pour out so much blessing that
there will not be room enough to store it.
Matthew 23:23 New International Version (NIV)
23 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees,
you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices-
mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more
important matters of the law-justice, mercy and
faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter,
without neglecting the former.
4. I’ll have favor if I help others in need. Favor attracts favor.
Proverbs 11:25 The Message (MSG)
25 The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed;
those who help others are helped.
God wants to find favor with you.
