Overflow | Living Filled So You Can Be Spilled,
Pastor Justin Miller.
Romans 15:13 New International Version
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
God wants this for you; He wants you to overflow with joy, peace, and hope.
God wants you filled to be overflowed.
Why do we live our lives running on empty when Jesus promises:
John 10:10 New International Version
"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Filled to the overflow.
He doesn’t just tell us the goal, Jesus tells us how to achieve it.
The goal is life to the full but the filling station is Jesus Himself.
John 15:4 New International Version
Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
When we are full of Jesus, Jesus is what spills out of us:
- Love
- Peace
- Joy
- Patience
- Goodness
- Gentleness
- Kindness
- Faithfulness
- Self-control
The true measure of our faith is the fruit we produce.
The world will never know about Jesus from you if you do not bear fruit.
Are you blessed but not a blessing?
God’s goal for our life is overflow so that we are not only blessed but a blessing to others.
God filled us with His love so that we may spill His love unto others.
When we are filled with the wrong things what are we spilling out.
Are you a big, hot, angry mess? Are you blaming others for your anger?
1 Peter 2:23 New International Version
23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
When Jesus was pushed to all limits he did not retaliate, instead He entrusted Himself to God.
What overflowed out of Jesus was faith, hope, and trust in the Father
The world tells us to always fight; fight for our rights,
fighting for fairness, fighting for justice but Jesus calls us to put away our swords and stop fighting but show the gifts of peace, hope and joy from the Father.
What do you fear?
If we live in fear and doubt it will destroy us.
Don’t let yourself be filled with the wrong things of this world.
Are you filled with the world or the Word?
1 John 2:15 New International Version
On Not Loving the World
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
When the world is in you the world comes out of you.
When the Word is in you, the Word comes out of you.
Are you in love with this world? Are you living for this world?
Toxic people will make you toxic. Don’t be close and intimate with people who are going to turn on you, they’ll tear you to pieces.
Galatians 5:15 New International Version
15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
The overflow that this world needs right now is the love of Jesus Christ.
God wants to fill you so that He may spill you.
When Jesus is in you Jesus will be what you spill.
Romans 15:13 New International Version
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Your choice is always spiritual. The answer always begins with and ends with Jesus.
Never forget, God is in you and with you always. He will never forget you, He will never turn away. He is listening and always, God Loves You No Matter What!
