Overflow | Empty Is The New Full
Pastor Justin Miller.
Closing Prayer: Ken Smith
Are you already full? It’s hard to add more to something that’s already full.
Is that "something" you?
It is our job to make room for all that God has for us.
Romans 15:13 New International Version
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
God wants you filled to be overflowed.
All he need is an empty vessel.
Are you full of the wrong things; all the traps of this world.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
We deny the power of the God Almighty and refuse His gifts.
God just doesn’t want to add to your life, He wants you to have a new life with Him.
When we are full of the wrong thing we spill the wrong things.
God is not here to make your life better, He is here to give you a new life and the leave all the baggage behind.
2 Corinthians 5:17 New International Version
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!
Revelation 3:17 New International Version
You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
1 Timothy 1:15-16 New International Version
15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.
“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.
All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one."
Romans 3:23 New International Version
… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Come to God empty.
Philippians 3:8-9 New International Version
8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in[a] Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
Give up this dead life and everything that fills it so that God can resurrect you and fill you to overflow His goodness.
Matthew 16:25 New International Version
For whoever wants to save their life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
What are you still filled with and not let go?
Our lives are filled and busy but not fulfilled.
Only God can fill us.
Sin and Satan are no match for Jesus
The opposite of faith is control.
Instead of placing our confidence in God we instead choose ourselves.
It is that control that God is inviting us to put to death.
God is not your co-pilot, He’s the captain.
Stop fighting for control.
Stop fighting the current of God for our lives.
Stop fighting, give up, give in.
What would it look like for you to give God control?
What are you hanging on to?
Let it go.
Trust God, have faith in God.
Empty the world out of your life and replace it with the joy and the hope that God has ready for you.
Never forget, God is in you and with you always. He will never forget you, He will never turn away. He is listening and always, God Loves You No Matter What!
