SERMON NOTES:

Don’t make permanant decisions in a tempory period.

God’s faithfullness has never stopped chasing me.

Let’s talk about hope.

HOPE
Hang
On
Peace
Exists

  • If any of your life feels hopeless it is a lie!
  • More than ever we need God.
  • Change God from your last resort to your first priority
  • Those that forget God have no hope.
  • More than ever we have to cling to the heart of God.

Job 8:11
Those that forget God have no hope.

What is real hope?

Hope is not optimism.

Three types of Hope

  1. Wishful hope. Wishful hope does not change the outcome.
  2. Expectant hope. Better because expectant hope has faith connected to it. Expectant hope will get you through some trouble but not all.
  3. Certain Hope. Certain Hope will bring you through all trouble

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Hebrews 6:19
This certain hope of being saved is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.

Three characteristics of Certain Hope:

  1. Certain hope is strong, built upon the rock
  2. Certain hope is trustworthy and dependable
  3. Certain hope is an anchor for your soul.
  • Anchor keeps us from drifting and keeps us stable in the middle of the storm.
  • Without an anchor a boat could drift off into unsafe waters.
  • It’s easy to drift away from God. You can drift even if you don’t realize it.
  • You cannot live your life without hope.
  • The bigger the ship the bigger the anchor.
  • The bigger your faith and hope the bigger anchor.

I’m gonna need a big anchor.

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

  • In every area of our life you need an anchor.
  • Your anchor must be fastened to Jesus
  • Real Hope is based on God’s word.
  • It is not based on my imagination its based on His obligation to do as He has promised.
  • Certain hope is based on the fact that God cannot lie.
  • God’s promises do not have an expiration date.

Luke 18:1 (ERV)
Then Jesus taught the followers that they should always pray and never lose hope.

John 3:30
He must become greater; I must become less.

Colossians 1:27
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Four anchors to secure your life for certain hope.

1. The anchor of God’s presence

1 Chronicles 16:11
English Standard Version
Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!

Jeremiah 29:13
English Standard Version
13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

2. We have to secure our life to the anchor of God’s promise.

Deuteronomy 31:8 New International Version
8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Matthew 11:28-29 New International Version
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Romans 8:38-39 New International Version
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3. We have to secure your anchor of God of God’s power.

Mark 4:35-41 Good News Translation
35 On the evening of that same day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” 36 So they left the crowd; the disciples got into the boat in which Jesus was already sitting, and they took him with them. Other boats were there too. 37 Suddenly a strong wind blew up, and the waves began to spill over into the boat, so that it was about to fill with water. 38 Jesus was in the back of the boat, sleeping with his head on a pillow. The disciples woke him up and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are about to die?”

39 Jesus stood up and commanded the wind, “Be quiet!” and he said to the waves, “Be still!” The wind died down, and there was a great calm. 40 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Why are you frightened? Do you still have no faith?”

41 But they were terribly afraid and began to say to one another, “Who is this man? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Only the power of God is strong enough to be your anchor in the middle of the storm.

Isaiah 26:4 English Standard Version
Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

We have to secure our anchor to God’s peace.

Romans 15:13 New Living Translation
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 23:4 New International Version
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 New Living Translation
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.

Speak Life! The rest of days are the best of our days.

Build our lives on the certain hope of Jesus.

Never forget, God is in you and with you always. He will never forget you, He will never turn away. He is listening and always, God Loves You No Matter What!
