Lessons On Blessings | Poor In Spirit

Pastor Justin Miller.

Everyone wants blessing.

Everyone wants but Jesus is offering but the path that He is promoting is not what we are following.

Matthew 5:3-10
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Poor does not paint the complete picture and suffers from translation.

The path to true spiritual blessing from God is to recognize your need for God.

Blessed are the spiritually bankrupt – beyond hope of payment.

Luke 4:18 New International Version
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,    because he has anointed me    to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners    and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.

Mark 2:17 New International Version
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 21:31 New International Version
31 “Which of the two did what his father wanted?”
“The first,” they answered.

Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.

People believe that church is for the spiritually superior but in truth the exact opposite is true; we are the spiritually poor, the spiritual bankrupt.

The one requirement for being saved is to know and accept that you need to be saved.

Everyone is welcomed to be saved, it doesn’t matter what you’ve done or how far you’ve run you can’t outrun the love of God.

2 Peter 3:9 New International Version

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

If you are willing confess that you are a sinner are willing to accept God’ grace you can be saved.

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

There is no blessing for those who believe that they have made their own way.

We will never make the grade by just be good; we have to know and have faith that only through the sacrifice of Jesus and the love of the Father may we find redemption.

Ephesians 2:8-10 New International Version

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Blessed are the spiritual beggars, not the spiritual boasters who think they’ve found their own way and have it all figured out.

We can never get in the Heaven because we are good, we can only get in because God is good.

Never because we are good or what we have done, only because of what Jesus has done.

But be also can never be bad enough to be left behind.

Grace, forgiveness, and salvation are the gifts from the Father.

The truth is the Kingdom of God, all of God is a gift; it cannot be earned.

A gift is a gift and cannot be earned.

We earn wages.

Romans 6:23 New International Version

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord.

Are you earning or are you accepting the gift of God?

Where religion says do God says done. We’re not accepted because we are good but because God is good.

Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves. We are accepted not for what we have done but for what Jesus has done for us.

In religion we become prideful because we think we’ve done it but through Christ we become grateful because we know He’s done it.

Christ has done for me what I could never do for myself.

Religion and the world both say "do" but the Jesus says "done."

God’s part is giving the gift of grace, our part is admit our need for him.

Lay down your pride and be free.

Never forget, God is in you and with you always. He will never forget you, He will never turn away. He is listening and always, God Loves You No Matter What!
