“Lessons From Lockdown,"
Pastor Justin Miller.

John 10:10 (NIV)
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Ephesians 3:19(NIV)
19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

1. These two passages speak to the love of Christ. What happens in our lives when we truly experience the love of Christ?
a. We will experience peace.
b. We will experience the fullness of Christ.
c. We will feel protected and safe.
d. We will feel truly and unconditionally loved.

John 4:10-14 (NIV)
10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

2. What worldly things do we use, like the women at the well, to try and quench our spiritual thirst?
a. Money
b. Things of this world
c. Experiences of the world
d. Job
e. Physical pleasures

During lockdown so many things have been canceled but Hope cannot be canceled. Hope is the key.

3. How do we keep the spiritual waters flowing in our lives?
a. A relationship with Jesus
b. Staying connected to Jesus
c. Reading the Bible
d. Praying
e. Worshiping

Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV)
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

4. What does this passage mean to you? What encouragement do you take away from it?

Romans 15:4 (NIV)
4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

5. This passage speaks of hope. How can we find and rest in true hope?
a. We can only find true hope in our Creator.
b. Through endurance and trusting in God.
c. Through serving others who are less fortunate than we are.
d. Through the encouragement of the Scriptures.

What takes up your mind takes over your life.

Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Romans 8:6 (NIV)
6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Faith over Feelings. What we feel isn’t always real.

6. What do these scriptures say to us about how we should fight the battles in our minds?
a. Capture every thought.
b. We need to let God take control.
c. We need to not let the devil fill our minds with lies.

No one likes interruptions, but the Christian life is full of them. And for good reason. Whether they come in the form of a man beaten bloody on the side of the road or a child begging for our attention, we often fail to see interruptions for what they are—divine opportunities. God allows them to derail our plans for the sake of deepening our relationship with him and opening our eyes to our blind spots.
