The Book of Jonah.
At the end of the day, God is less concerned with what we do for Him than who we are in Him. Few figures illustrate that truth better than Jonah. Focused on the prophet rather than his prophecy, the story of Jonah gives us a picture of a man on the run due to his own selfish desires. Instead of showing mercy to his enemies, he determined to keep God’s grace to himself rather than share it with those he considered undeserving. Can you relate? Over the course of 8 verse-by-verse sessions, pastor and author Eric Mason expands our vision to see that Jonah’s story is our own.

Come to Bible Study hungry; Hamburgers, Baked Beans Tater Tots, Ice Tea, Coffee & Cupcakes.

Children are welcome and child care is provided. Everyone is welcome and please, bring a friend or two or three…

Prayer Guide: The Prayer Guide is found at RealHopeInChrist.com.

Text to Tithe: Due to a number of requests for a more "modern" way to tithe, Text to Tithe has been created. It’s safe, fast, and secure. Just text the word, "give" to (786) 288-0839 and follow the link. Thanks!

PRAYER: Is Prayer Important?

The way of prayer is truly the way of life. Let us give ourselves to prayer! Jesus prayed much even though He was God’s only begotten Son from eternity past.

Through His words and His actions Jesus tells us how import prayer is.

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35.

“You do not have because you do not ask.” James 4:2.

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24

Prayer Partners are available at the front of the worship area after today’s service.

SERMON NOTES | Pastor Jeff Wallace | Jonah: Life on the Run / Saved to be Sent

We continue in the series on the book of Jonah called Life on the Run. Last week we found out that while we’re running AWAY from God He’s running AFTER us. This week we learn that sometimes a bad place can be the best place to be.

One of the many awesome things about God is that He uses stubborn and reluctant people to accomplish His righteous purposes. Jonah was that stubborn person who eventually submits to God’s calling on his life. Jonah finally realized what we all need to realize; that he was saved so he could be sent. God’s message needs a messenger – you and me!

Read Jonah 3:1-10

  1. Jonah’s message to the Ninevites was “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” What is the message that God has for us to give our community and world?
  2. Jonah didn’t sugarcoat the message from God. Why is it important to keep God’s message the same and not sugarcoat it?
  3. Jeff Wallace said we must have compassion for the lost before we can be sent out to share God’s message. Why is compassion such an important piece of sharing the Gospel?
  4. Jeff Wallace said, “We must believe that with God the impossible is possible.” When it comes to sharing the Gospel, why is our expectation that God will bring about change important for us to believe?
  5. Jeff Wallace said, “We believe God’s Word must be heard. It’s time to go!” Why is it so hard to get out and share the truth of Jesus that has changed your life?

Next Steps: Jeff said, “God’s word can’t work if God’s people don’t work it! When we step up and step out, God steps in!” This week God is challenging you to be His angel, to share the message of Christ and to help those around you to take one more step closer to Christ. Consider the steps below to help you prepare to get out and share Christ with someone else.

  1. Ask God who you should share Christ with in prayer.
  2. Write down the names God brings to your mind.
  3. Using the list of names, ask God to give you wisdom on where/when to share Christ with them would be best.
  4. After listening to God, write down where and when you will talk with each person.
  5. Ask another believer to pray for you before you talk with each person.
  6. After sharing your story invite the person(s) to church with you as a next step.

Grow in our knowledge and faith,

Give in love and,

Go out into the world to shine brightly with the light of salvation from our Savior Jesus Christ and tell the world what we know is true; God Loves You No Matter What!

We boldly ask God to help us shake the Earth and touch the Heavens!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

We look forward to seeing you again. Thank you and May God bless you!
