Bring On The Blessings

Pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church – Principle of First

Blessings don’t start with things that happen to you, they start with things that happen IN you.

Blessings begin in your heart.

Matthew 6:21 (NIV)

21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Jesus talks about a man and his money more than any other topic.

The Principle of First

Exodus 13:1-2 (NKLV)

1Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Consecrate[a] to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast; it is Mine.”

If God is first in your life, everything can come into alignment.

Exodus 13:12-13 (NKJV)

12 that you shall [a]set apart to the Lord all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be the Lord’s. 13 But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.

1. The first born must be sacrificed or redeemed.

A clean animal has to be sacrificed to redeem an unclean anima.

Even your sons need to be redeemed.

We were born unclean – Jesus was born clean. The clean had to be sacrificed for the unclean; an example that the first one redeems the rest.

The First is the redemptive portion. Tithing is the first 10%.

2. The first fruits must be offered.

Proverbs 3:9 (NKJV)

9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;

10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

Jesus is God’s tithe. God gave Jesus while we were yet sinners.

Genesis 4:3-5 (NKJV)

3 And [a]in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

Why did God accept Abel’s offering but not Cain’s? Abel gave the FIRST, Cain brought whatever he wanted.

God can never act outside his character. God can’t change, God can never be second.

3. The tithe MUST be first.

Leviticus 27:30 (NKJV)

30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s. It is holy to the Lord.

Tithe on your increase.

God’s part is first, the first 10%.

The first money that leaves your hand should be God’s.

In your heart, is God first?

Exodus 13:14-15 (NJKV)

14 So it shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall say to him, ‘By strength of hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh was stubborn about letting us go, that the Lord killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all males that open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.

God redeemed me, I gladly give to God

Malachi 3:8-10 (NJKV)

8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say,

‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.

9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

At Real Hope In Christ our purpose is to love the Lord our God with all of our hearts and with all of our souls and with all of our minds.

Our focus begins with all the people of Citrus County and by the Grace of God we will:

Gather together to worship and celebrate God,

Grow in our knowledge and faith,

Give in love and,

Go out into the world to shine brightly with the light of salvation from our Savior Jesus Christ and tell the world what we know is true; God Loves You No Matter What!

We boldly ask God to help us shake the Earth and touch the Heavens!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

We look forward to seeing you again. Thank you and may God bless you!
