Sermon Notes:
“168: The Triumphal Entry.”
Pastor Justin Miller

Jesus said to His disciples, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.” Join us as Pastor Justin Miller kicks off our new series, One Sixty Eight where we’ll study the last one hundred and sixty eight hours before Jesus’ crucifixion. In this message, we’re taking a close look at Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, and the way people received him. Jesus isn’t always the king we want, but he’s exactly the one we need! When we know God we know love.

John 12:12-19 NIV
12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.

13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!”

14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:

15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”

16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.

17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

John 6:15 NIV

15 Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

Matthew 16:24 NIV

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

Luke 14:27 NIV

27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

1 Corinthians 15:19 NIV

19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

Romans 8:18 NIV

18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Philippians 2:5-11 New International Version

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
        even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Closing Prayer: Ken Smith

Never forget, God is in you and with you always. He will never forget you, He will never turn away. He is listening and always, God Loves You No Matter What!
